"I am not a fan of online courses at all, but this was
truly excellent."
-- Online course graduate Daniel U., 8/29/2020
Description of Online
dtWFA Course:
- Interesting, engaging, thought-provoking video
presentations (course
topics and demonstrations) by our expert instructors, in ways that their
energetic & fun personalities shine through.
- With hands-on practice-at-home sections interspersed between video
presentations (instructor demonstrates, then you perform).
- Relaxed learning:
- whenever you want, at your leisure. We start you off with 1
month to view the presentations; simply email us if you end up needing more
time.
- at your own pace, in easily manageable portions. The course is organized into
many comfortably-sized videos, each marked with its duration; it won't be
long before you're done with one section.
- ability to pause a video, to ponder, take notes, or take a break.
Can't do this in a live class!
- ability to rewind and re-play, to hear an explanation or view a
demo again -- can't do this in a live class!
- With whiteboards and physical demonstrations, so you can both see
and hear the content.
- No sleepy PowerPoint! Viewers enjoy the human presentation with fun
personalities.
- With downloadable diagrams and real-life photographs to enrich your
learning.
- With invitation to email questions to our Instructor-Trainer Matt,
who looks forward to discussing and furthering your learning.
- With Certificate of Completion for graduates.
- If you need WFA certification, re-certification, or CEUs, please instead enroll in either
Blended Learning or In-person Class.
Please note that SOLO home campus (closed until at least end-May 2020) has
not approved of the online learning experience we pioneered in early spring
2020, thus it cannot be used to satisfy any WFA requirements or CEUs -- it
cannot be used for any purpose except self-education.

Testimonials:
[as of last edit of this web page on 9/3/2020]
-
"I rarely enjoy studying, lectures, etc. but this course
was interesting from start to finish and helped me do well on the written
test [necessary only if you want/need a Certificate of
Completion]. I feel like I will remember this information for a
long time!"
-- Travis D., 5/24/20
-
"As a visual learner, I really enjoyed all of the
examples and diagrams given in the videos, and I greatly appreciated the
attached images to the lessons."
-- Caroline R., 8/5/20
-
"The videos were thorough, enjoyable, and easy to follow.
The concepts were presented in simple, action-oriented frameworks that made
them easy to remember and apply. Great, engaging teachers using clear
videos that were audible and visually clear … This course left me feeling solid
in my basic skills, especially assessment, and knowledge of appropriate next
steps in different emergencies. Overall, great selection of material
and appropriate decisions about how to pare it down and present it."
--- Kyla, 7/4/20
-
"The combination of knowledge, personal experience, and
humor made the entire experience more enjoyable and easier to remember."
-- Travis D., 5/24/20
-
"It was useful to me that you had each section listed
with the running time next to it. That made it easy for me to pace myself and
not get bored or lost."
-- anonymous, 5/17/20
-
"it was nice to be able to re-wind and take notes at my
own speed and my concentration benefited from that."
-- Sarah H., 5/24/20
-
"One thing I really liked about the video option is that
I took it at my own pace; when my brain started to feel full, I took a break and
came back to it. ... I've done intensive street medic courses before,
and this was a nice change of pace. It also helped me feel like I was
going more in-depth with the information I could retain because I could go back
and rewatch."
-- Marysia W., 5/29/20
-
"I really liked the opportunity to view the videos
multiple times over the past month and to rewind a video part way to clarify or
reinforce a concept in my mind, for example the proper way to remove one’s
protective gloves."
-- William J. S. 6/26/20
-
"It was much less stressful having the
opportunity to be taught on my own schedule rather than having two intensive
days."
-- Christopher V.,
3/28/20
-
"When the instructors both explained care for an injury or
illness and explained the physiological phenomenon happening unseen. It
helped me understand how the body reacts to different things instead of just
seeing a superficial injury or illness and caring for the signs and symptoms.
Very cool!"
-- Grace L, 7/6/20
-
What did you think of the instructors?
-
"The quality of teaching and the
personality of each instructor was ABSOLUTELY STELLAR. There is a lot more
to learning than just the textbook curriculum, especially with medical
situations. The person to person interactions and how we communicate with
the patient can also affect positive or negative outcomes. Your
[Matt's] gentle demeanor and Phoebe’s wonderful dramatizations of the patients
were extremely enlightening. I don’t know if Phoebe has ever studied
theater..."
-- Christopher V., 3/28/20
-
"The instructors were all super friendly, engaging, and
relatable. I found myself getting to know y'all by the end of the course.
The material was covered thoroughly."
-- Samantha R., 7/8/20
-
"They are wonderful. I love that the
instructors were varied and unique in how they taught - it added delightful
variety to instruction."
-- Matthew K., 5/24/20
-
"All of the instructors used language that is very
understandable, which makes the course extremely accessible. If 'bigger
words' were used, they always explained what they meant - super awesome. ... One
of my favorite things was answering questions asked in the videos like
Phoebe's demo and pop quiz on Shortness of Breath. "
-- Caroline R., 8/5/20
-
"The instructors hit the mark with speaking slowly but
staying relaxed and engaging, moving around but not being distracting, and
hitting home the key points. I've tried to make videos and know
this is not easy, so seriously, well done!!"
-- Kyla, 7/4/20
-
"Y'all are so nice and sweet! Phoebe especially
made me a laugh a few times!"
-- Samantha R., 7/8/20
-
"I enjoyed the course because of the energy of the
instructors."
-- Lucas M., 8/6/20
-
"While I’m not an Emergency Medical Technician or the
like, because of [the] course, I’m confident I’ll be an active participant in
helping the injured if presented with a personal injury emergency."
-- Dennis B., 5/15/2020
-
"I hope I never have to use most of this information on
my trips but I feel more prepared now. THANK YOU!"
-- Elizabeth W., 5/21/20
-
Would you recommend this
course to others? "Yes, I have already many times :)"
