Welcome!  The registration form is loading below.

If the form doesn't appear / doesn't load, please try the following:  (1) try a different browser;

(2) try logging out of gmail / google if applicable and then refresh this screen;

(3) if you're at work, some workplaces block google forms ... so please try it at home;

(4) contact instructor-Trainer Matt at 434-INJURED (434-465-8733) or email:  matt (at) solowfa (d0t) com

5 Final Steps:

1) Did the questionnaire above disappear, with a new message at the top of this page appearing, saying the form successfully submitted?  If yes, please proceed to step #2.  If it didn't, it didn't go through -- please ensure all red asterisk* questions are answered, and click the submit button again.  Please repeat until the questionnaire disappears (and a new message appears at the top of this page, saying the form successfully submitted), and then continue with the steps below.

2a) Choose your payment AMOUNT

  • Blended Learners:  required to get started

    • If you do NOT have the textbook below, choose $220 in the next step.  We will mail you a textbook which will be helpful with your online learning.

    • If you DO already have "SOLO's Field Guide to Wilderness First Aid" any edition, choose $215 in the next step.  Your book will work well with your online learning.  [Later in your in-person class, if our instructor is using a newer textbook edition, you will receive it then, no additional charge.]

  • Not-blended, specific-course-date folks:  required to secure your spot before class fills up (full refund if coronavirus cancels)  Please first decide your payment amount as follows:

    • $215 (receive textbook in class)

    • $220 (extra $5 is to receive course textbook in advance by mail.)

      • NOTE:  prior students wrote:

        • "Encourage reading material before class.  So much material to cover and absorb, having read first would have helped."

        • "Insist that everyone study the book prior to taking the course.  I did + it really helped."

    • Special deals (pre-existing special arrangement) are payable by any means below except charge card (unless you want to call in and add a $6 convenience fee).  Add $5 if you want to receive the course textbook in advance.

    • Advanced WFA Part II registrants only:  This class only (June 26-27, 2021) includes an exciting night-time team rescue scenario and has significantly higher expenses.  Happily, there's free camping on-site with nice bathrooms & showers.  The fee is $245 (receive textbook in class) or $250 (receive textbook in advance by mail).  Please pay $245 or $250 via one of the payment methods below.  If you prefer charge card, please click on the $215 or $220 (that's the extra $5 if you want book pre-mailed) button below, and we will increase the amount that actually gets charged by $30 to add up to $245 or $250 as appropriate.  PLEASE NOTE:  For this class to be "on," physical distancing will have to be in our rear view mirror as the team rescues will require proximity.  It is likely that vaccination will be a pre-requisite to attending.  Let's hope a vaccine is widely available come class time; full refund if class is not able to be held because physical distancing is still a necessary safety precaution.  Any questions, call Instructor Matt at 434-465-8733.

  • Refund policy

    • Blended Learning students only:  no refunds in part or whole but you have a 3-year credit to attend an open-enrollment MEDIC SOLO dtWFA course.

    • If you register for a specific in-person class (not Blended Learning):  the course fee is refundable (1) if you did not request the book to be shipped in advance [in which case, course fee is not refundable in whole or part], AND (2) you cancel ten days or more in advance, AND (3) at least twelve other people are signed up for the class, AND (4) we are able to find a replacement for your spot (dropping out affects the learning of other students – when it comes to scenarios, an absence causes an odd number of students, making for incomplete scenario learning experiences). If you need to cancel fewer than ten days in advance, notification as soon as possible will be most appreciated; the instructor will try to work with you and find a replacement, however it likely will be too late.  If you qualify for a refund, a fee of $25 will be retained, to cover our staff time of originally processing your registration, collaborating with you on your cancellation request, processing your refund, and reflecting your changes in our accounting system.

3a) For BLENDED LEARNING:

Please SUBMIT THIS PARTICIPANT AGREEMENT, required to start your online learning.

(No printer, no problem :-)  If you indicated in the questionnaire above that you don't have easy printer access, we'll mail the form to you.)

  • Adult participants:  ignore page 2 -- just sign and submit page 1

  • Under-age-18 participants:  you please sign page 1, your parent / legal guardian signs page 2.

then please scan or crystal-clear photo and email to:  ops (at) solowfa (d0t) com  , SUBJECT LINE = "Participant Agreement - Your Name"

   OR mail to:  MEDIC, 250 West Main Street Suite 702, Charlottesville, VA  22902

AND CARRY ON WITH STEP #4 BELOW.

3b) For SPECIFIC-DATE IN-PERSON CLASSES:

i) If you will be under age 18 at class time (note:  focused teenagers with solid attention spans are very welcome) please print this form, have your parent/guardian sign it, and bring it to class.

If you are age 18+, the instructor will have a blank form at class for you to please sign then

ii) ALL participants:

  1. Download this .pdf document for course timing, to understand the critically-important multi-step safety check-in procedure upon arrival, for what to bring, etc.

  2. Please be advised that in class, you will need to sign page 1 of this form.  We will provide the paper form for you in class.

4)EVERYONE (CRITICALLY IMPORTANT):  in your email "settings" please "create  a new filter" for all emails from @solowfa.com to "never send to spam," or else there are significant odds you'll miss very important emails from us, pre- and post-class.

MEDIC staff will email you (1) when your registration and payment have been processed and your spot is confirmed, and (2) about a week before class with extremely important final notes.  Just clicking on an email from one of us "not spam" WILL NOT WORK because strangely, people often receive emails from one MEDIC staffer but not another.  Please create the recipe for all incoming emails from @solowfa.com . Thanks.

5) Have time and want to do more pre-course preparatory reading?

If you spent the extra $5 and ordered the dWFA textbook in advance, that's a fantastic start.  That book, used in the dtWFA course, has 100 pages.  In autumn 2014, the SOLO doctor released a brand new 330-page disaster / travel / wilderness medical textbook:  "WILDCARE," now used in the longer classes (8 to 9-day Wilderness First Responder and up).  Consider ordering it if you have time to read through it before class, and regardless as it will serve as an outstanding reference resource to you after class.  WILDCARE Info and Order Page  If you enrolled in the WFA course to recertify your WFR (or higher), consider getting this as well, for it blows away the old black & white WFR textbook and will be a fantastic resource for you.

      • Contact Instructor Matt with the following note:

        1. provide a link to the exact web page where you plan to post the course link, and

        2. what do you plan to post (if you'll be writing a little blurb next to the link or something)

        3. what's your guess how long it will continue to appear on that web page.

      • Get it Matt-approved & done at least three days prior to class, and score $10 back in class!

    • Perhaps your employer offers reimbursement for educational courses which result in a certification card.  They might want a person trained to improvise and administer first aid in case a disaster strikes.  If this course qualifies for reimbursement with your employer, please let instructor Matt know so he can help spread that good word.
