SOAP NOTE BACKGROUND / IMPORTANCE:
The SOAP note is an important part of patient care. It travels with the patient all the way to the hospital. The ambulance crew needs info you wrote on it to:
- quickly analyze trends in vital signs instead of having to take 15 to 30 minutes to start to see the patient's trends in vitals,
- quickly learn the patient's history like last ins and outs, and medical conditions
- quickly learn everything you found and did and start driving to the hospital, instead of delaying transport and patient care to hear what you try to remember to tell them … or not delaying transport and thus not hearing key things you wanted to tell them.

If it's wet out, no matter how hard you try to keep your SOAP note dry, it's likely to get wet. Your and the patient's clothes and gear are wet, the ground is wet, and wherever you put the SOAP note on the patient so it stays and travels with them may be wet. Regular paper will degrade, tear, smudge, and no longer be of use to you or subsequent caregivers – decreasing quality of care.

CONSIDER *ALWAYS* USING THIS WATERPROOF SOAP NOTE, REGARDLESS OF THE WEATHER.
- weather in the wilderness can be unpredictable, it's best for your patient to always use this Waterproof SOAP Note, in case some hours into your care it starts to rain, or water or coffee gets spilled.

FEATURES of this SOAP Note:
- It is recyclable paper, yet it's waterproof. Immerse it and pencil, crayon, and some inks do not smudge. The photographed paper shown here was immersed for 7 hours. The pre-written ballpoint pen ink would not smudge, we then finished writing the SOAP note while it was drenched using a pencil, and then dunked it for another 3 hours. Still in perfect condition!
- Write on it under water! Submerge the paper and you can still write on it with a pencil or crayon, and probably some fancy pens designed for waterproof writing.
- Ballpoint pen ink already written on it will not smudge when the paper gets wet. So while it's still dry out, you can use this SOAP Note with a regular ballpoint pen, and then if it rains some hours later, your SOAP note and writing are intact. Your regular ballpoint pen won't write for long on something wet, so once the paper gets wet you'll need a pencil, crayon, or special pen designed for writing on wet items.
- Heavy-duty paper – 32-pound stock – 60% heavier duty than regular 20# paper. It is not tear-proof, but when it's wet it's still strong and doesn't disintegrate like regular paper does. Size 8.5 x 11 inches.
- After a lonnnnng while, the edges of the paper might soak in a little water, but it's still completely use-able. The pictured 10-hours-submerged sample did not soak in any water anywhere.

We figure you'll fold it anyway for storage in your first aid kit. If however you want this shipped flat / unfolded, please note during store check-out in the special instructions / order notes box, that you want this shipped un-folded. In this case we'll absorb the expense to mail this to you in a separate large envelope. Ordering 6 sheets (25 cents shipping fee charged for each) should about cover the cost of large envelope mailing but if you order fewer we'll absorb it.
